River Run Remodel
Categories: News & Updates
Love your location, but not so much your house? Want to fall in love with your house all over again? Then remodel it! Whether it’s a whole house renovation or a kitchen or bath update, remodeling your home can make it more functional, enjoyable, and beautiful (and usually all of the above).
We recently remodeled a home in the River Run neighborhood of Davidson, NC. The home was built in the late 1990s, and the finishes were typical of homes from that era: polished brass fixtures, white cabinets, and white appliances. The owners had bought the house when their children were toddlers, but with their kids now teenagers, and Dad working from home, the floor plan wasn’t working for them the way it used to.
Enter John Marshall Custom Homes! Working with architect Michael Neff of Davidson, we developed a floor plan that fit the owners current needs. The primary change to the floor plan was the addition of a bonus room above a 2-story family room, but we also moved some walls around to create a larger kitchen, casual eating, and laundry space.
After the plan was finalized, our interior designer worked with the clients and our subcontractors to select cabinets, appliances, countertops, tile, paints and other fixtures.
The end result is plain to see: a home that is not only fully functional, but one with a definite “WOW!” factor. The kitchen is truly a cook’s kitchen, and details abound throughout the home. Scroll through the photos above to see some ‘before’ shots, as well as several photos of the finished product.
This project was recognized as the ‘Best Whole House Renovation $76-150,000’ at the annual ‘Best of the Lake’ design competition sponsored by the Lake Norman Homebuilders Association. We were also recognized for ‘Best New Home $500-750,000’ for a home we built in downtown Davidson at 618 James Alexander Way.
