I was really struggling with a paint scheme for this home. I knew I wanted lots of color to go with the Arts and Crafts style, but didn’t want to get too terribly far out. I put up several sample patches on the siding until the house looked liked Dolly Parton’s ‘Coat of Many Colors.’
Nothing quite struck my fancy. Finally, I went to the architect, Roger Layman, and asked for suggestions. “How about that color rendering we did for you when we gave you the plans?” Oh, yeah. He pulled the rendering out, and it was exactly what I wanted. I still had to translate his colors (Sherwin-Williams doesn’t make a “GI Joe action figure green”) to real world paints, but with a bit of trial and error it worked out.
This home I think is one of our prettiest. It’s also nice on the inside, as you’ll see in this video.
