Located just 15 minutes north of Charlotte, Davidson, NC is a small town which traces its beginnings to 1837 and the formation of its namesake Davidson College. While Davidson College is still the centerpiece of this quaint North Carolina town, Davidson has grown to over 15,000 residents with boundaries stretching far from the college.
Unique among other towns in the area, Davidson, NC still has a distinct, historic downtown. Whereas neighboring towns like Huntersville and Cornelius are dissected by I-77, Davidson has no such division, and the downtown and Village Green are regarded by most residents as the physical and spiritual center of the town.
It is this sense of common place which unites Davidson and makes it truly a community. While there are no doubt differences between its citizens, everyone in Davidson comes together at events like Town Day, Concerts on the Green, or Christmas in Davidson. When asked where they live, most residents of Davidson just say ‘Davidson.’
