    514 Ridgewood in Davidson (2016)

    514 Ridgewood in Davidson (2016)

There’s been a trend recently of posting photos from 2016 to social media. I’m not sure why 2016 was chosen, but I started thinking about homes we built in 2016. One of my favorite homes from 2016 – and from all time, for that matter – is a home we built at 514 Ridgewood Avenue

The (Not Quite) Tiny Home Is Finished!

The (Not Quite) Tiny Home Is Finished!

Our post from September 4, 2024 discusses the tiny home we were planning to build in Davidson. Well, as of August 2025, the tiny home is complete, and it’s a beauty! First, we need to clarify some nomenclature. This home is what I would call “not quite” tiny. Based on the definitions of the North

We’ve Reached a New Low (This is a Good Thing)!

We’ve Reached a New Low (This is a Good Thing)!

As the saying goes, records are meant to be broken.  And, we’ve been breaking records for energy efficiency right and left lately. In 2022, our home at 522 Walnut Street was Energy Star certified, with a HERS score of 39.  What does this mean? HERS, or Home Energy Rating System, is a score which measures

Another Beautiful New Home in Downtown Davidson

Another Beautiful New Home in Downtown Davidson

John Marshall Custom Homes is pleased to share that the 3rd home in our ‘Davidson Springs’ neighborhood in downtown Davidson is now complete.  Designed by LaBella Architecture, this new custom home features three levels of living space as well as beautiful outdoor spaces.

The main level of the home features an open kitchen and great room, as well as powder room, playroom, and the owner’s suite.  Three bedrooms make up the second floor, while the basement is finished out as an in-law suite together with a game room and fitness room.

Interior design support was provided by Tara Setzer and Pam Settar – thank you!

In addition to being beautiful, this home is well built and energy efficient.  Featuring R-30 basement walls, spray foam insulation, tankless water heater, and efficient Andersen windows and American Standard HVAC, this home is Energy Star certified with a HERS rating of 45.  The efficiency of this home will result in an annual savings of over $2,000 in utility bills compared to a home that is built to code.

Davidson Springs is a 15 lot community in the heart of downtown Davidson.  All lots are currently sold, and construction is underway on several new custom homes.  A greenway which connects the South Main Street area to the Davidson K-8 school will traverse the neighborhood.
