John Marshall Custom Homes was hired in 2025 to renovate a home in the River Run neighborhood of Davidson.  The home was built in the late 1990s and was definitely in need of an update.

Working with plans created by architect David Strange, and with great assistance from Tara Setzer of Tara Setzer Design, we transformed this home by adding a cook’s kitchen complete with a scullery and walk-in pantry, as well as a new office and drop zone on the main level.

Like many of the homes of this era it had a two story great room.  We added a ceiling over part of the great room, thus creating a floor for the level above to which we added a new bedroom and a walk-in closet.  We also added a full bathroom on the 2nd level.

The home now not only looks much better, it also functions much better as a home for entertaining and for hosting a growing family of grandchildren.
