Founded by Rodney and Melissa Graham in 2002, John Marshall Custom Homes has established itself as one of the Lake Norman area’s leading custom homebuilders. Our mission is to have a satisfied customer.  We want you to be satisfied with the outcome of your project, both in terms of the craftsmanship and quality that went into your home, and also with the process, including timeline and budget objectives.  We are a small company that relies on references and word of mouth for our continued success.  Our mission is to add you to our list of customers who will gladly refer us.

Our mission is also to make a difference, not just in the homes we build and the neighborhoods we develop, but in the quality of the community around us and the world in which we live.  John Marshall Custom Homes has sponsored several local non-profit organizations, and our commitment to green building is one thing we can do to improve the quality of the world around us.

FAQs

  • Who is John Marshall?

     

    In addition to being the name of an early and consequential Chief Justice of the Supreme Court, John Marshall (Johnathan Marshall to be exact) is the name of our son and oldest child.

    Melissa’s father and brother were both named John, and my maternal grandparents surname was Marshall, so we named our son in honor of them.  Then, when we started the homebuilding company a couple of months after he was born, we named it after him (and them as well).

    We’ve also named streets after other family members including our wonderful daughter Emma Claire.

  • Do you have employees or do you use subcontractors?

    Both.  Our office and administrative staff are employees.

    Our trades are subcontractors.  We are a small company with four to six projects happening at once, so it is not possible to have trades such as framers and electricians, etc. be full time employees.  We have a stable and loyal subcontractor base, most of whom that have been with us for at least ten years, and some that have been with us from day one.
